Easter egg rescue April 9, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — Yvonne @ 3:19 am

Zander had a great Easter. We started by making yummy cupcakes in the morning. Zander did a great job helping to make the frosting — he loved whisking and having a few samples. Then we had a lovely dim sum brunch with Cherry and Jasmine (cute pics of Zander in Jasmine’s sunglasses and cell phone, giving a kiss).

Afterwards, Edward came over and we had a backyard Easter egg hunt. It was so funny! Zander was very excited to see the colorful eggs, but after a while, he kept yelling “MA!” (”more”) in a very concerned voice. He wanted to make sure that he got them all and wasn’t missing any of them. Mitch described it as a rescue operation… a fun Easter for all.

Mitch and I started AsianAustin.com last month and things are really hopping! We’ve already attended two lunar new year festivals, a grand opening to a Hindu temple and will be going to a Spring Arts Festival this weekend. I’ll include a few pics of Zander at some of the events. There’s one of him and Jasmine at the Chinatown Center lunar new year event. Check out www.asianaustin.com for more pics, video and calendar entries! zanandjasmine1.jpg

Little charmer February 3, 2007

Zander charmed everyone over at Woodland last night. We were there for dinner (absolutely delicious, by the way … highly recommended!). Zander would stare at people at tables nearby and smile. Once he made a friend, he would wave his hand hello to them. He made friends with several tables, as well as the hostess. Even the guy who refilled our water said we had a really “pretty baby”!

A walking and a singing … and dancing! January 14, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — Yvonne @ 6:11 am

Zander took his first steps on his own today! It was so exciting! (maybe I need more exclamation marks!!!). He took three big steps to Daddy, and did it twice more to the both of us. And he just started this dancing thing. It’s hilarious … it looks like some kind of crazy Riverdance jig. He’ll hold onto something and start pounding away with his feet. Soo cute. Oh, and you’ve got to hear his singing. Started that a few days, maybe a week ago. Very high pitched and light, kind of like Chinese opera. Now we just need to do all three at the same time, walking, dancing and singing, and he’s totally on his way to Broadway! We’ll get some pics and video asap.

Zander’s says goodbye at daycare

Daycare

Zander had to say goodbye to his well-loved teachers and friends at the Children’s Courtyard on North MoPac. We’re moving him to a location closer to home. It’ll mean a shorter commute for Zander: 10 minutes instead of a 45 min-1 hour (tear-filled) car ride. His last day was Friday, Nov. 17.
We will miss Kennedy, Mitchell, Caleb, James, Calissa, Ms. Linda, Ms. Ann, Ms. Vicky, Ms. Mara, Ms. Donita and most of all Ms. Sharon and Ms. Ana (pictured, left-right). Everyone has been so great to Zander, helping him to grow, learn and have fun every day. Zander has been given a great start at the North MoPac Children’s Courtyard, and he’s ready for new adventures!

Showing off October 20, 2006

Today little Zander was showing off for his Aunt Alexa, who is visiting us for a few days.

It was a really exciting night of firsts! It started when I came home and we made the guest bed for Alexa. Zander went right along and helped me make the bed, lifting the sheets. Every time he’d wave the sheets around, he’d fall over laughing. When Alexa and Ed finally got here, he was quite shy and started to cry at one point. But he soon warmed up and even ate a few bites of mashed potato from Lex.

At day care, his teacher let us know that he repeatedly pointed to a picture of a cat in a book. He would turn pages to get to the cat picture and each time would point straight to it.

We all went out to Threadgill’s for dinner. Zander quite enjoyed the french fries and huge fried pickle spear. He went straight for it.

As for the highlight of the evening, Zander initiated peek-a-boo on his own, covering his face with blanket and pulling it down laughing. He has never done that before! We had so much fun laughing with him in the car.

Also for the first time, he crawled onto the bed and waved bye bye to Alexa and Daddy, signalling to Mommy that it was time for bed. It was so amazing.

Zander’s first banquet September 18, 2006

He loved everything at Kate’s red egg banquet … the seafood soup was his favorite. Also gobbled ham, chicken, duck, noodles and rice. Didn’t quite make it to dessert, but we’ll get there next time. It was fun seeing all the babies together. Can’t wait ’till they’re all just a little bit bigger and can interact together.Christmas will be so much fun :)

Da Da September 3, 2006

Mitch stayed home with Zander yesterday since Zander wasn’t feeling to well. Apparantely, the two had a really good father-son bonding day. And now, Zander is saying da-da-da quite a bit. Also, earlier this week, he pulled himself up using the laundry basket, pushed it along the floor and ended up taking five or six steps! I was so very proud :)
